Dear Hon. Mr Patel
Re: Old Rupees 500 and 1000 Notes Held By NRI’S
We are deeply concerned with lack of response to our emails and letters to you regarding the concerns of our Members.
We have received RBI’s declaration concerning Rupees held by NRI’s which states that NRI’s must deposit the Rupees with required documents at RBI’s office in Mumbai, Delhi etc
Our Members are travelling to Gujarat directly, there are no collection points in Gujarat which is really a matter of concern to us all. We believe around 400,000 Gujaratis travel to Gujarat from UK and many more from US & other parts of the World. For them to come to Mumbai makes an uneconomic exercise as expenses incurred to come to Mumbai will be higher then Rs.25,000 hence it does not make any sense for them to cash their old currencies.
NCGO, on behalf of Gujarati NRI’s requests you to have collection points in Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Jamnagar so that NRI’s travelling direct to Gujarat are not inconvenienced to exchange their Old Rupees Notes as per guidelines set by your office.
Await your kind co-operation and response on this matter.
